The engine: The Greenhouse for Social Entrepreneurship of the University of Haifa

The Greenhouse invites students, graduates, and faculty of the University of Haifa and entrepreneurs from the community to apply for a unique acceleration program.

?What does the greenhouse offer

The greenhouse will accompany, nurture and assist entrepreneurs and ventures that work to create social or environmental change from the concept stage to the development of the venture itself.
What will you get?

  • Professional guidance and accompaniment for the development of ideas up to the prototype stage and its presentation
    At DEMO DAY to raise an initial financial investment (Seed money).
  • Professional workshops to get acquainted with entrepreneurial thinking, relevant methodologies and essential tools.
  • Significant meetings with mentors from the social field, other entrepreneurs and colleagues.
    Professional advice in everything related to legal issues, technology, business and more.
  • Financial support: Selected projects will receive initial financial support for the purpose of financing the initial needs of the project – which will be provided by the accompanying committee after Demo Day, a maximum support amount of NIS 15,000.
  • The intellectual property of the venture will be owned by the developers.

?In what areas will we support

The projects that will be developed as part of the greenhouse will design solutions – services, products or projects – that deal with inequality and social justice, social exclusion, poverty, health and public welfare, quality education, living and working conditions, environment (including marine environment) conflict resolution and peace.

?Who can submit

The uniqueness of the incubator is that it is anchored in the University of Haifa and the community around it, and from that it will prefer to support students and graduates (up to 5 years after graduation) of the university and the academic and administrative staff at the institution. In addition, the incubator will allow applications to be submitted to external entrepreneurs who have at least one student graduate in their staff.

Criteria for evaluating a bid

The proposed projects will be selected according to the following criteria:

 

  • Originality and innovation: ventures that represent thinking outside the box, whether in the context of the nature of the initiative, whether in its business model, or in the proposed pattern of activity.
  • Impact potential: Ventures that have the potential for significant social or environmental impact in the field in which they operate.
  • Scaling: Enterprises with ambition and potential to grow and expand the expected social impact.
  • Business Model: Enterprises with Sustainable Potential and Long-Term or Profitable Economic Stability
  • Entrepreneurship and inner commitment of the entrepreneurs and readiness to work in a team and under schedules.
