What We Do

Academic Courses, Practical Training and Entrepreneurial Empowerment
Haifa Innovation Labs (HIL) is the Center for Social and Environmental Innovation and Impact Entrepreneurship at the University of Haifa. HIL bridges the gap between academia, industry, and society by turning real-world challenges into opportunities for innovation. We offer academic courses for University of Haifa students, accelerator programs, applied research initiatives, and cross-sector collaborations to develop solutions in fields such as public health, the blue economy, climate resilience, education, and social equity.
Through our unique Challenge-Driven Innovation (CDI) methodology and the integration of tools such as Design Thinking and Lean Startup, we empower students, researchers, and professionals to become changemakers, equipped with the knowledge, skills, and networks to create meaningful, scalable impact.
At HIL, we offer a diverse range of courses tailored to students at various stages of their academic journey. Our undergraduate courses provide academic credit and introduce students to the fundamentals of innovation and entrepreneurship.
For more advanced students (Starting from the third year of the bachelor’s degree), we offer hands-on courses and ideation workshops that guide participants in developing impact-driven ventures using the CDI methodology. These programs emphasize interdisciplinary collaboration, creative problem-solving, and real-world application.
Additionally, we work closely with graduate students and PhD candidates to help them transform their academic research into viable, scalable ventures with social, environmental, or technological impact. Through mentorship, customized tools, and exposure to relevant ecosystems, students learn to translate theory into action, and research into impact.
Our academic track provides a powerful launchpad for students to explore entrepreneurship, apply cutting-edge methodologies, and build ventures that truly matter.
